How a Dance Community Taught Me to Save Money (And Why I Built Krazy.Deals)
Picture two grown men popping and breaking on a street corner in Rimini, Italy, dancing for tips while tourists watch. That was me and my mentor Gary Kendell in June 2001. We danced until we had enough for a real dinner.
The funny part? We were there on a paid gig. Freddy, the Italian athletic wear brand, had flown us out to perform at a fitness convention. We had a stage, a show, the whole thing.

But earlier that day, we'd grabbed sandwiches near the venue. I'll never forget them. A single slice of meat so thin it was practically transparent. Gary held his up to the light and we both lost it. It was like deli paper between two pieces of bread. We finished them and were still starving.
So that night, we took it to the streets. Two professional dancers, hired by a major brand, busking for dinner. And it didn't even feel weird. That was just normal.
That's how the dance world works
You put everything into the craft. Money comes second. When my crew traveled from San Jose to competitions in LA or San Diego, we packed six deep into someone's car and slept on whatever floor or couch was available. Hotels weren't even a conversation.
I spent years around some of the most talented dancers I've ever seen, guys who could headline any stage. Most of them were figuring out rent month to month. Not because they were careless. Because the dance world doesn't hand you a financial playbook. You learn to stretch every dollar, or you stop dancing.
That instinct never went away
Even after I shifted into teaching full-time, I was always the guy finding the better price, the discount code, the workaround. It's just how my brain works. The same engineering mind that breaks down dance moves into systems can't stop looking for patterns in everything else.
A few years ago, I found one worth sharing. Most people don't know that Amazon has promo codes that stack on top of existing sale prices. Not the discounts everyone sees on Prime Day. Hidden codes that drop the price even further. I started using them and saving real money on things I was already buying.
At first I just texted the codes to friends and students. But sending them one by one to the same people asking "hey, got any more codes?" didn't scale.
My student Roland picked up a gaming chair during Prime Day. The sale price would have saved him $370 off the original. Not bad. But I sent him a promo code from Krazy.Deals that stacked on top of the sale. His total savings came out to $450. That extra $80 was money Amazon wasn't advertising.
So I built Krazy.Deals
Krazy.Deals is where I post the best promo codes and deals I find. No fluff, no fake markdowns, just real savings on real products.
I built it for people like us. The ones who hustle, who put everything into what they love, and who deserve to keep more of what they earn. Go check what's on sale today.
And if you're here for the dancing, start with BeatFirst.
