Private Hip-Hop Dance Lessons for the Bay Area

1-on-1 private dance lessons for adults 18 and older across the Bay Area, in person at Get Down Dance Studios in San Jose or virtually through Google Meet from anywhere. Ceech has taught dance since 1998 and has direct training in Electric Boogaloos movement. Hip-hop, locking, popping, breaking, and house dance are available.

Teaching in the Bay Area since 1998

The Bay Area has many dance communities and training options. If you're looking for hip-hop, locking, popping, breaking, or house dance, private lessons can give you focused time on foundations, rhythm, balance, and coordination.

I've held college faculty positions at Mission College, West Valley College, Gavilan College, and Cabrillo College, and I've guest taught at Stanford, UC Berkeley, UC Santa Cruz, Santa Clara University, De Anza College, San Jose City College, and Ohlone College. My funk styles training includes direct study with Pop'in Pete and Skeeter Rabbit of the Electric Boogaloos. That background informs the way I teach popping, waving, and Boogaloo.

In-person lessons are at Get Down Dance Studios in San Jose Japantown, central enough for students from Sunnyvale, Cupertino, Palo Alto, Santa Clara, Mountain View, Fremont, and Milpitas. For students farther out, virtual coaching through Google Meet provides personalized video feedback and live instruction.

Before you book

Where and when are in-person lessons held?

Lessons are by appointment only, normally Saturdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Pacific Time at Get Down Dance Studios, 196 Jackson St, San Jose, CA 95112, in Japantown. Other times may be available by special request. Ceech usually contacts students around Tuesday to confirm the upcoming Saturday. Appointments are arranged week by week, subject to availability.

Where can I park?

Paid street parking only. There is no dedicated parking lot. Check posted signs for fees and time limits, and allow time to park before your appointment.

Can you come to my home or event venue?

Travel may be available case by case for an additional fee. Discuss the location, participants, and schedule with Ceech before booking. Regular in-person lessons take place in San Jose; virtual coaching is available worldwide.

What is one Virtual Coaching Cycle?

Submit one dance video. Ceech sends recorded feedback within three business days. Then arrange the next available 30-minute Live Coaching Session on Google Meet to work through the feedback together. That meeting completes the cycle. Additional recorded reviews are not included in the same cycle.

How much is virtual coaching, and do packs expire?

A 10-Cycle Pack is $500 and expires six months after purchase. A 5-Cycle Pack is $300 and expires three months after purchase. A Single Cycle is $80. These are one-time purchases with no automatic renewal. Adult students can join worldwide; appointments are arranged in Pacific Time.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Give at least 24 hours' notice to reschedule. Late cancellations and missed appointments count as a used session; genuine emergencies may be considered case by case. If Ceech cancels, the lesson is rescheduled without using a session from your package.
